While our guests enjoy the sunshine on the mainland beaches we have just been over the bridge to the Ill de Re for a few days to do some touring around on cycles, our youngest is only 5 but its so easy on the marked cycle tracks and the flat landscape with the highest point of the island being only 19 m above sea level, parts of the tracks take you through salt marshes, a bird watchers paradise and the lovely tiny roads through the quaint villages and small towns dripping with flowers from every nook and cranny, with all the cafes and bars full of people just idly watching the world go by or dreaming at the ports as the luxury boats and yachts meander in and out.
For the more nautical and energetic the Jet ski and sailing boat hire was very reasonable and enjoyable as my brother-in-law who joined us can testify.
even though we were only just down the road it felt like we were miles away in another country even, all in all we all had a very pleasant and relaxing few days.
