Bastille Day Celebrations in Landrais
Bastille Day on the 14th July is celebrated all over France usually with festivals & fireworks. In our little village of Landrais in the afternoon they have games for the children. In the evening the mairie organises a 4 course meal this usually consists of roasting a suckling pig or a choice of Charentaise escargot (snails) or sardines with a good local band playing. Then when it is dark the children are given lanterns & everybody goes through the village to the field where there is a firework display followed by a disco outside the mairie, all with a fantastic atmosphere.
