La Rochelle 12-31 Exeter Chiefs:

What a busy weekend its been here in La Rochelle with the Rugby and we had guest's staying with us who had come for the yearly car rally (rallye de Automne 2019) which took place for 2 days all around our area.

At the start of the Heineken Champions Cup four tries gives Exeter Chiefs a bonus point win at the marcel de flandre stadium in La Rochelle.

After Exeter scored 2 converted tries in the first half and La Rochelle unfortunately had a try disallowed   Exeter had a 14-0 lead going into the break.

The second half saw a try by La Rochelle before 2 more converted tries and a penalty by the Chiefs.  La Rochelle did come back with a late converted try but too late to effect the outcome.

All in all a great game with Exeter Chiefs being at their very best La Rochelle could not get a foothold.

Puy Du Fou

Another great day out at probably the best Historical theatre park in the world!
Every year the park increases the number of shows and the quality increases, even if you have seen the shows before you will all ways be surprised by the things you missed the first time!
Its about a 1.5 hr drive from our Gites a long day but a very memorable and exciting day out for all the family.

La Rochelle verses Bristol Bears

La Rochelle beat the Bristol Bears 39 to 15 at the Deflandre stadium here in La Rochelle. It was a  hard fought but a convincing win to go into the semi finals against Sale Sharks on the 19th of April.

Naval Aircraft Museum (Musee de L'aeronautique Naval) in Rochefort

This museum in Rochefort is the largest in France dedicated solely to Naval aircraft, based in hangers originally designed for the use of airships in 1916. Aviation enthusiast who work here will tell you the history, Operation and employment of the different planes, some even have first hand experience of taking off and landing on aircraft carriers using similar aircraft, you will also find an impressive exhibition of models and library.

  The good thing about this museum you get close up to the planes.

At the closest beach to our Gites just south of La Rochelle over 600 people ran into the sea at the beach for a winter swim and were rewarded with a hot mulled wine and a cake, Brrrrrrrrr!
